At Dame Ellen Pinsent School we are so fortunate to have a Forest School site on our grounds. We have 4 Forest School Leads who are dedicated to promoting self-esteem, creativity, confidence and independence with an holistic approach that is learner-led. Forest School enables supported risk-taking, child-centred learning, exploration and play, as well as the development of a child's physical development, including core strength, balance, fine and gross-motor skills. The vision of Forest School is to enable each participant to have the opportunity to develop themselves in an inquisitive manner and have a positive relationship with the natural world, facilitating awe, wonder and curiosity.

At Dame Ellen Pinsent School children in our Seedlings pathway access Forest school on a weekly basis as outdoor play is a key part of the Early Years framework. Children in our Orchard and Woodlands pathways have at least half a term of Forest School at some point during each academic year.
You will be informed via your Class Dojo page when your child has Forest School and be asked to send in appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather, this would include long sleeved tops and trousers, layers for staying warm and protected from the elements as well as suitable footwear.
