Seedlings Pathway
I’m Mrs Eaton and I am Creative Arts, Woodlands and Seedlings Pathway Lead. My teaching career started in 2013, where I taught music and performing arts in all groups from Reception to Year 6 for several years across mainstream schools in Birmingham, before joining Dame Ellen Pinsent School in 2016. I have loved my time so much at Dame Ellen, that I have never left. I have responsibility for several classes here at Dame Ellen and I teach in Woodlands and Seedlings pathways, providing consistent cover for PPA.
In the Seedling pathway we have lots of fun learning through play and continuous provision. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and our prime areas of learning will be the development of Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal Social and Emotional Development which will all be prominent on the class timetables.
Pupils will also develop their skills within the EYFS specific areas of learning. They will be taught about Number and Numerical Patterns through fun and practical Maths play and learn about the world around them in our Understanding the World sessions. Interactive, sensory stories will be shared in Literacy, where we will focus our learning around reading and writing and developing those pre-literacy skills. Lots of messy play will occur in our Expressive Art and Design sessions, where the children will be creating with a range of materials and developing their imaginative and expressive skills through music, song and movements. We take part in extra curricular activities such as Jo Jingles, Forest School and Let’s Connect events.
