Enrichment
At Dame Ellen Pinsent School we have a broad and exciting enrichment offer and pride ourselves
in providing a range of extra-curricular activities that some of our children
may not otherwise get to experience and take part in. We are proud of our
enrichment offer to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural
development of our pupils and the table below outlines how and when we do this
throughout our school life

We
offer residential school trips for our Orchard and Upper Woodlands pathways. All
children in Orchard pathway will be invited, at some point, to spend 1 night at
Dodford Farm in Bromsgrove. The children will stay in the self-catered
farmhouse and will work on vital skills and values, such as independence, courage
& bravery and teamwork. Activities may include pond dipping, feeding the
animals and playing in the splash pool

In our Upper Woodlands pathway children will be invited to spend 2 nights at Blackwell Adventure in Bromsgrove.
The children will stay in the manor house and mealtimes are fully catered. As well as practicing independence skills, children will take risks and try activities that they may never have tried before, including archery, go-karting, tree trekking and zip wires.

At Dame Ellen Pinsent School we go out on trips to support our learning as well as well as being an active part of our community. Some of our regular trips include:
Learning
golf skills at Shirley golf club

Practicing
teamwork and ball skills at AVFC

Enjoying water play and learning swimming skills at Calthorpe swimming pool.

Some of our most recent day trips have included Attwell Farm,
Avoncroft museum and a canal boat trip

Some of our children visit May Lane allotments where some of
the plot holders encourage the children to do some planting and take care of
plants

We work closely with local artists and performers to help us
to teach and build on creative skills.
Each year we work with local artists on a range of art and design skills and the children’s artwork is then displayed in a gallery at the Midlands Art Centre in Cannon Hill Park. Our current artist is called Sarah and she has been working closely with the children in our Orchard pathway to develop their painting skills and allow them to work with different textures.

We
also have performers come in and do a whole school theatre performance, this
year M&M Productions came and performed their musical version of Jack and
the Beanstalk.

Our
Woodlands pathway also went to watch The Wizard of Oz, performed by the CBSO

Our
Woodlands pathway also work alongside the Music Service and our children learn
to play a musical instrument
This year they have been learning to play the
violin and some of our children have performed on the stage at the Birmingham
Conservatoire.

We offer
a variety of lunchtime clubs for our Woodlands children. We also offer Workout
Wednesdays so that all children can move and dance during their lunch break.
Please see below our current lunchtime club timetable.
