Religious Education at Dame Ellen Pinsent school

At DEP we follow the Birmingham agreed syllabus for RE. We adapt the dispositions to meet the needs of our children.
We have chosen the top 6 religions observed in our school and learn about each one for a term on a 2-year cycle. During these units, children will learn about the religion by looking at beliefs, stories, songs, artefacts, festivals and celebrations, religious leaders and places of worship within that religion. We will teach the children how to be respectful of different beliefs and religions and to be curious and inquisitive. Some children will have the opportunity to visit different places of worship as well as handling religious artefacts.
As a parent you have the right to withdraw your child from any or all RE lessons. If you have any further questions on our RE curriculum and its content then please ask to speak to Matt Doxford (RE lead) or Kerry Parker/Kate Gray (curriculum leads) to discuss this further.
